The year 2018 was exciting for the international community, with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) hosting UNISPACE+50, which celebrated the 50 th anniversary of the United Nations Conference on Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNISPACE). The event brought over 800 participants from all over the world together in Vienna, including representatives from over 30 space agencies. A key policy outcome of UNISPACE+50 was the international community's agreement, endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly (A/RES/73/91), to establish a Space2030 agenda. The Space2030 agenda is envisioned as a comprehensive strategy for reaffirming and strengthening the contribution of space activities and technologies to the achievement of global agendas such as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The United Nations / Austria WORLD SPACE FORUM focused on 'Access to Space4All', with the goal of leveraging space technologies to their full potential in order to achieve sustainable economic and social development globally.

Who attended

The WORLD SPACE FORUM 2019 brought together experts and policymakers from regional, national and local institutions, private organizations, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations and international organizations, who exchange views on the four pillars of space economy, space society, space accessibility and space diplomacy.
